Ma holiday readin` critique.... Empire: What Ruling the World Did to the British by Jeremy PaxmanNever took it. Befriend and Betray: Infiltrating the Hells Angels, Bandidos and Other Criminal Brotherhoods by Alex CaineQuality read, those Angels are bad MOFOS!! 8/10 Twisting My Melon by Shaun Ryder Good read, ghost written of course, he omits that he used to smash up that coloured backing singer for The `Mondays he was seeing, and call her the "N" word... 7/10 Hood Rat by Gavin KnightQuality, covers Manchester, London and Glasgow gang culture. Part factual. 8/10 Outlaws: Inside the Violent World of Biker Gangs by Tony Thompson All about UK MCs. Gets tedious, they`re naw as BADASS as the USA biker Chapters 7/10 Also read... Kendra- "Sliding Home"More LOLS aboot Heff tain` viagra and shaggin aw the sexdollies one after the other. 8/10 "The Understudy"- by the same boy that wrote "Starter for Ten". All about a loser actor in London. Excellent. Read in a oner. 9/10.

got 'the shadow of the wind' by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, at xmas. Few chapters in and it's gripping as fuck. Should be a good read it's a great book. gets better as you go too. recently read: Norwegian Wood - Murakami - weird but enjoyable. all the characters are almost too weird and it's a bit up its own arse but worth a whirl. The Dharma Bums - kerouac - very good, think I prefer it to On the Road, just a mad steaming, wandering, work shy Buddhist who heros worships an eccentric pal. not unlike On the Road then but now with a Buddhist tinge. Ours are the streets - Sunjeet Sunov excellent. www.guardian.co.uk/books/2011/jan/08/ours-are-streets-sunjeev-sahotareview there. I'd recommend this book. also got and the Land Lay Still by James Robertson for Christmas and various others. Alan Bisset''s Pack Men and bought myself Alan Spence's 'The Magic Flute'. looking forward to these 3 especially.

it's the people who read murikami that put me off it cos they are always smug cunts that seem to think they were well clever for being able to endure a whole book of weird stupid shit that makes no sense
read that wood one too. and as you say, completely up it's own arse. wind up bird one was not bad but he's almost like a japanese james kelman for me. with weirdness just thrown in for the sake of it
@ fabio: was reading an article the other day about how that le freak tune came about after them getting a knockback from studio 54. might give that book a read
read charlie and the great glass elevator last weekend. it was a challenging but rewarding read but i have been having nightmares about the vermicious knids every night since
probably should lay off the cheese or something

Aye the story goes they got the knockback on NYE and went back to the flat and put together Le Freak with the original words "Ahh...Fuck Off" Got World War Z which is a pretty accurate depiction of a zombie war (in my mind at least). Told through interviews with survivors. Mrs Carracas got the Homicide novel which I might have to nab off her. Plus she has left the book open at the spine instead of using the bookmark - pet hate of mine

saw that too. said it's very good so far. but then again they are quite pally. Welsh was banging on about the need for a current book that deals with sectarianism and that Bissett has accomplished this with 'Pack Men'.
having said that, I also canny wait for Skagboys to come out. looking forward to hearing some of young Simon Williamson's adventures.
