TRIBUTE presents - AROY DEE - CARLOS NILMMNS (LIVE) + Residents
Friday 13 April at 23:00 until Saturday 12 April at 19:00
Big thank you to Basic Soul Unit, Alex Coulton, JD Twitch and all in attendance at our last event/after party! On to April's edition of Tribute and we've got another cracking line up for you!
Aroy Dee has been on our "want list" since we first started talking about potential guests for Tribute. The style of music he makes and DJ's perfectly represents Tribute and what we're all about. Deep, raw House and Techno! His music is steeped in the atmospheric textures synonymous with the sounds that came out of Detroit and Chicago back in the day but with an emphasis on bringing those sounds forward. Building on them rather than imitating them and creating something wholly unique to himself and his labels - M>O>S Recordings and MOS Deep. The afore mentioned labels are true bastions of underground goodness, with quality releases coming from Legowelt, D'Marc Cantu, 2AM FM, Chicago Skyway, Perseus Traxx, Gerd and the man himself. 2011 also saw the release of the labels first album, the outstanding "What Have We Learned" by Morphosis AKA Ra.H.
His DJ sets are thoughtfully built up melodic affairs, meandering through genres and picking up pace as they go on. Expect everything from House and Techno to Disco and Italo to new, yet to be heard nuggets awaiting release on one of his labels. As you can imagine we're very excited about this one!
Our second guest comes in the shape of synth wizard Carlos Nilmmns AKA Ross McMillan. The Glasgow producer has really stepped up to the mark over the last couple of years to become one of the cities finest exports. His releases on Fizzy Duck, Dontstop and Ornaments have shown labels and promoters across Europe exactly what he's made of and this in turn has made him a man very much in demand. His Subculture EP took the house scene by storm at the end of 2011 and with releases/remixes due out on labels such as Gerd's 4 Lux, Parisian imprint Skylax, Lifeworld and new Glasgow set up, Ander-Traxx, he's certainly going about making 2012 his most prolific year to date the right way.
Although his live show has been witnessed across Europe, this will (surprisingly) be the first time he'll have played solo in Glasgow. As with all the live performances at Tribute thus far, expect the La Cheetah booth to be packed with all sorts of synths, drum machines and general gadgetry for what is sure to be an absolute blinder of a set!
Support on the night comes from Tribute resident Sidrad.
Door tax for this one will be £8
This will be followed by a city centre after party, more info on that to follow.
