Alright,
Have a problem with my ancient mountain bike.
When cycling there is a buzzing noise from the chain. I'm also finding it more laboured than normal and have tried to change the gears.
I'm not sure if it's in the correct gears or whether the chain needs oiled.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Definitely the chain?
I found my bike ridiculous at times, but it turns out the tyres weren't up at 65-70 psu. Never had a pump with pressure guage to check properly before, so I was just guessing, and had them about 20psu too low. Once they were at the right pressure the sluggishness and buzzing noise I'd been hearing disappeared.

It could be that as my tyre needs pumped. However, the chain keeps coming off so there's definitely issues with that.

Oil the chain if its making a noise. the chain and gears will wear over time but that shouldnt make it harder to pedal.
check your tyre pressures as a soft tyre will make it much harder to pedal and they do lose air over time. if youre only cycling on road get the tyres pumped up as hard as possible. there will be a max pressure figure on the tyre, probably about 60 PSI

Sound. I'll do that later on tonight mate. If the problem persists I'll take it to a shop.
