I need a new power supply for my PC. I have 5 hard drives in a PC I built myself and think I woefully underpowered it so the supply is now goosed.
Anyone know what sort of power I should need for that? 16GB RAM and Dual Core processor if it helps...

I may be mistaken, but the power supply should be calculated based on the power required for everything i.e. 60 watts to power the mother board 30 watts per hard drive etc www.thermaltake.outervision.com/

Cheers for that. 500w ought to cover it but I think that's what I had.

Spazzy question from me.
Can I have two routers plugged into the same phoneline? I've got a router in the living room but I wanted to put another in the spare room to connect the desktop to using ethernet rather than wi-fi? Would two routers fuck it up or should I use the other router as a bridge?

Think you have to use the 2nd router as a bridge for it to work. You'll need to fuck about with teh router settings to set it up well. I looked at it for my Be router and the consensus was that it was more trouble than its worth. Maelstrom Misco or Priceless. make sure you get one with enough hard drive connectors

500-550 should do it... Don't cheap out on the cheapest wan, it will sound like a hairdryer and do your box in.
Does your graphics card need a separate power feed? That will influence your decisions as well.
tbh, having 5 hard drives is fucking gay, buy a 1TB brick and just back everything up onto that.

bin the other router and just get a Homeplug instead? Had one of those, and it worked pretty well. As for the PSU - buy a decent one. Shite ones tend to take out all your components with them when they fail. Unless you have a beast of a GFX card, a 500W corsair or antec truepower will do the business. Shit ones might rate at the wattage displayed, but they don't supply the required current on the rails, end up getting overtasked, and die.
