Lining myself up for a slagging here but we got refused more food in Tropeiro today, despite it being all you could eat 7 of the guys from work and to be fair we demolished everything they threw at us. After about 40 minutes we were sitting with our wee cards at green and empty plates. The staff congregated in the corner then one came over and asked if everything was ok to which we said yes. Still no more food appeared and another waitress came over to ask if everything was ok. Again the answer was yes but they still didn't bring any food over. She told us we'd tried everything they had on the menu and there was nothing left for us. Then the manager came over and asked us who "Mr Boyle" was as he'd made the reservation. He told us (jokingly) that if Mr Boyle phoned up to make a reservation again they'd say they were too busy! Cunts.

I went through a phase over the last year or so of only very rarely ordering takeaway food. Basically I was just sick of not being able to be confident that I'd get decent quality.
In the last month I'v ordered 3 deliveries - twice from Chillies Southside, and once from a new place on Victoria Road - The Upper House. All three meals have comfortably pissed all over every other takeaway I've had for ages. The lamb chops from Chillies are amazing - fresh tomato, chilli, garlic, coriander... The second time I had lamb with lime and coconut, which was much milder than I'd normally order, but about as tasty as it gets. The meat was ridiculously tender both times. If you have to chew lamb hard, someone's fucked up.
I called the Upper House the other night. Had a menu through the door, liked the look of it, and thought I'd give it a shot. It's Malaysian/Thai/Chinese. I let the guy on the phone choose, as he'd explained that they'd opened that night and asked what sort of thing I liked, and then started listing all sorts of stuff. He chose Lar Chee Duck, which was firey as fuck, but excellent. Had flat noodles on the side, which were also great.
Hopefully neither fuck up. Pleasing to finally feel happy if I can't be arsed cooking or going out to eat.

I've had my eye on Chillies but hadn't ordered anything yet. Good to hear it's decent

You should have stood your ground and said it's all you can eat and you can eat more so get it sorted.

Thank fuck this thread is still alive...
Went to the Castle Terrace in Edinburgh for Mrs Carracas' 30th same mob that does the Kitchin - well fuck me if that ain't fine dining. Half the crew wimped out of the taster menu which was a shame because it looked erm tasty...but the a la carte was spot on. The biggest scallop I have ever seen came out and the waiter said "I think that one must be 25 years old".
Even the amuse bouche trio was amazing. Also wait for it...a cheese trolley. A fucking trolley covered in cheeses, chutneys, you name it! Hoegaarden as well.
Staff were great and even got a wee birthday card from the chef - nice touch. Very expensive but for a special occasion worth every penny. 10/10.

Had breakfast here on Saturday morning www.eat-deli.co.uk/content/eatcafe/Eggs Benedict was a definite 10/10. The menu is excellent. I reckon this will replace The Brooklyn Cafe as my usual weekend breakfast haunt.
